Interested in volunteering?!?!?  Contact us for details!

Volunteers are a vital part of NCTRC’s programs, helping on a weekly basis as horse leaders and sidewalkers during our sessions of horseback riding, as well as at fundraising activities & special events throughout the year.

Download our volunteer application & questionnaire today.

Our riding classes and hippotherapy run year-round in winter, spring, summer, summer camp, and fall sessions, all at different times of the day, so we hope there will be just the right program to fit your schedule.

Volunteer Orientation is held prior to each riding session.  Here you will learn how to be a horse leader or sidewalker.  Horse leaders are required to have significant horse handling experience, but sidewalkers do not need any previous experience with horses.  While you must be 14 years of age or older to work in the ring with our riders, younger volunteers can help with other program activities.

Volunteers are also needed to help with these other events:

The Great Human Race, held in late March or early April.  This is a 5K walk/run that brings in needed operating funds for NCTRC.

CDI Raleigh, an international horse show held annually in early June at the NC State Fairgrounds

Special Olympics, a horse show for disabled riders from across the state, held at the NC State Fairgrounds in mid-July.

Volunteering with NCTRC is a highly rewarding experience. Come join us and meet our wonderful riders, our therapy horses and ponies and our great instructors.  NCTRC could not continue offering horseback riding classes without its dedicated group of volunteers!
